I am not planning on buying any, but why are they so damn cheap? The are 124 bucks for one wheel! I am not planning on getting any, but they can't be performance oriented or are they more for show? Did I mention I am not getting them. Yeah. . . not getting them. I am going to be poor after I get my wheels. . .

Partly because they weigh somewhat more than visually similar wheels and are prone to a not-insignificantly-higher percentage of failures, especially under spirited driving (symptoms of older casting technology).
But mostly because they have no brand name value due to the fact that they all knockoff wheels.

A little spindly, but that price is ridankulous. I wonder what they'd look like with a chrome hub+lugs cover - kind of a baby-moon majobber.

Well I have never heard anything positive about them except for their price. Some of them look pretty good IMO but I have heard stories of them cracking.

I second this. I've already absolutely smashed one cheapo 17 inch wheel (Masitaly, now thankfully defunct) and bent two others (Dezent, and just from minor potholes!). The problem is that I can't even afford to buy tires for the factory 14 inch wheels I have, so I'm stuck buying super cheap (I get very nice discounts on top of the already cheap price, long story) 17 inch wheels for the tires I have...

And people thought Rotas were bad. Also, Rotas aren't actually that bad.

Chrome really only works with gloss black on a wheel - was initially referring to just the ones in your post, but some of the following might also be interesting:

Cheap doesn't always = bad.
Here is cheap and good. Not much in the looks department but not bad looking either and pretty light, especially for the $.

The best wheel for the price is probably Enkei RFP1s. They are 1000 bucks, which are pretty expensive compared to XXRs. BUT they are damn light, and have really good quality as well. My problem is that I want something light and durable and sexy. . . which means it ain't gonna be cheap.

From what I have read Rotas are now decent wheels now but a few years back they were total shit.

The thing I don't like about the RPF1 and many of those popular wheels is that there are cheap knockoffs on every other modded car out there. It makes them feel much less special, even if you know they are real. My friend has a set of real Work Equip wheels that cost like +$450/wheel but there are soo many knock offs at every car show they don't really seem as special as they are.

I personally don't like chrome lips or chrome wheels, I am not sure why. I really like one color for the whole wheels. Also there are two wheels in my post!! But I assume you are talking about the XXR ones. I personally enjoy black wheels. Gloss black or matte. . . or even semi gloss.

But how will us poor 20 year olds get some swag ass wheels! To be honest though, I don't really mind knock off wheels. I am more worried about weight, quality, and looks. Generally speaking the knock off stuff is usually fairly low quality and is kind of heavy, so that is kind of off putting. Stuff like Volk though is what, 3500 for a set? That is crazy, so it is understandable why some people want the looks for less. I wouldn't do it, just due to quality issues.
Also, what is the RFP1s a rip off of?

I think they have pretty poor materials quality and build quality. The only types of cheap wheels I would buy are RPF1 or 6UL. I think XXR makes wheels mostly for show. Also, the cracking below looks unbelievably bad. I always wondered the same thing, too.

I only wish the RPF1s had more pizzazz, they look meh cause they are super light.

It isn't but there are rip off's of it. I don't know who makes them but I know I have seen them quite a few times. Maybe Rota used to do a knock off? I cant remember...

Oh okay. You have to be really poor if you want a rip off of a 250 dollar wheel. . .

May I suggest another lightweight Enkei favorite? The PF1. Looks good in both silver and white. Here they are on Toyobarus.

Not bad. Don't track them and you should be fine. I think they have a warranty for the street.

Those are really nice, I only have two problems. They don't offer them in 18x8.5 in the 5x100 bolt pattern, and . . . well thats it really. These are 600 bucks cheaper than the wheels I want, and about 1lb heavier. But can they steal my heart like the Rays Gram Lights have. . .
Obviously in black for me.

I was actually thinking about buying a set for winter wheels, and keeping the better set(and sexier set) for everything else. I also want to save the OEM wheels as well.

Wow, those are drool-worthy and really complement the styling of the car. 1lb is not significant, but the price certainly is. If I'm not mistaken, there is a logo reading "Rays" on the bottom; what particular model are they?

They are Gram Lights 57xtremes. They aren't Volks which means they won't cost you a 1/6th of the price of the car. They are still fairly costly about 1/2 the price of the Volks(cause these are cast and not forged).
I personally don't care for a 1lb here or there either, you won't feel the "loss" of performance. Plus the best way to loose unsprung mass is by the brakes(10lbs at each corner with a big brake kit).

These are pretty cheap, and they come sized perfectly for my MR2. I'll buy a set and report back; I can just replace a wheel if once cracks given the price to weight ratio.
